Twice First Place for the Ladies…
LAGUNA BEACH, CA – Team Simple Green competitors Dolly Ginter (45-49) and “Flyin” Fiona Petersen (35-39) both took home gold at the 2010 Pacific Coast Triathlon qualifying them for the upcoming “Best of the US Tri” to be held in Mission Viejo in mid October. The Pacific Coast Triathlon is a rough (and this year very cold) water swim, rolling and tough bike and a run – distances are ½ mile, 12 miles, 3 miles respectively.
Dolly finished in a time of 1:10:26 with a 2-½ minute win over the next nearest competitor – this after she was 2nd in the bike leg (by a mere 8 sec’s) and then followed with a blistering 19 min 5k run.
Fiona was fastest on her bike leg and in the run was only bested by 2 seconds; giving her a nearly 6 minute margin of victory at 1:12:17.
As a benchmark – Dolly’s time was good enough for 22nd place overall (male and female, all categories), while Fiona’s was 38th overall. The only other female competitor to have a faster time was Julie Ertel (Pan-American Gold medalist and Olympic Water polo Silver Medalist) with a time of 1:10:06. Dolly and Fiona – Congrats and here’s to you and your hard work and efforts!
The womens 35-39 awards presentation for Fiona Peterson can be found at the 4:20 mark, while the womens 45-49 awards presentation for Dolly Ginter begins at the 6:14 mark.
