Club Track Day Coming March 21st (No Experience Necessary!)

CARSON, CA – Cycles Veloce has reserved the indoor velodrome at the VELO Sports Center/Home Depot Center for an afternoon on the track. The track will be closed to the public so club members can be comfortable and at-ease, knowing that they will be sharing time with other club members rather than strangers. The experience is very relaxed and fun, and is a great way to be introduced to track cycling.

No Experience Required

Beginners to the Track Encouraged

This is an activity for any member, at novice level or above… in short, you do not need to be a racer! We are encouraging those members who have always wondered what it would be like to ride on a velodrome but were too intimidated by its looks, never had the opportunity, or just couldn’t afford the high fee for certification. Since the track will be closed to the public* during this time, you can relax and enjoy the session with your fellow teammates. There are only a handful of indoor tracks in the world; don’t waste this rare opportunity!

Cost:

  • Only $20.00 (Typical fee for this type of session is $100 – $150)

  • Date: SATURDAY, March 21, 2015
  • Time: 3:30 – 6:00 PM

Details:

  • Our track day will be an introductory experience led by a certified USA Cycling coach
  • Track bikes will be provided (limited sizes, first come first served) at no charge
  • Closed session*: club members will be the only group allowed on the track

*Track will be closed to the public as long as we meet the minimum number of participants

What to Bring:

  1. Bring your own pedals, cycling shoes, helmet (MANDATORY), cycling clothing, gloves, eyewear, water bottle
  2. Get There Early!  Plan to arrive at 2:30 pm (time required to change clothing, select bike, install pedals, adjust saddle height)
  3. Limited to the first 30 members to sign up and pay (see RSVP below)

About the Home Depot Center Velodrome:

The Home Depot Center Velodrome is a world class cycling track that has hosted numerous high level national and international events, including the UCI World Championships. Most of the year it is available for riders of all levels to use for training and racing and is a great resource for the Los Angeles area cycling community. Although there are various closed training sessions for clubs or elite riders, most training sessions are open to riders of all levels that have been through a basic certification process and demonstrated that they can ride safely. The track is a much smaller space than the road environment that most cyclists are used to, and riders of different levels sharing the track for training will encounter each other over and over and over as they turn laps around the track. By having a common understanding and basic etiquette for riding the track, all track users can make the most of their time on the track and have fun.
