FEB '22 Ride Recap Irvine, CA
by Andrew Penksaw
This past Saturday Cycles Veloce-Team Simple Green hosted our second club ride of the year. Riders meet up at the Rock n Road Cyclery in Irvine for a 65 and 85 mile ride. We rode east on Irvine Blvd and up El Toro Road and into hilly Santiago Canyon, then up Cannon and turned right onto Serrano. The winds were gusty and made it a challenge in addition to the climb. We then descended down Weir Canyon and rode south on the Santa Ana River Trail. The riders opting to do 65 miles turned off at 17th Street and worked their way back Santiago Creek Trail. The others finished out 85 miles continuing down SART to PCH and back up Laguna Canyon. Collectively we had about a dozen riders participate in this event.
Our goal for 2022 is to invite a wide range of riders from beginner to expert and help newer riders develop their skills and endurance. Some of our riders race every weekend while others are training for their next century or Grand Fondo. Whatever your goal is theres a place for you here. We hope to see new faces out on our monthly ride every time. We encourage you to dust off your bike and strap on your shoes and join us next month!
